The Master of Arts in School Counseling prepares students to become school counselors that empower students and help them reach their maximum potential. Students gain the necessary skills for a professional counseling career within the school system. The program requires the completion of 60 credit hours. The courses include Counseling Children and Adolescents, Principles of School Counseling, Program Development and Evaluation for School Counselors, and Internship in School Counseling. Online students must also complete residency components.
The Education Specialist in Educational Leadership-Educational Psychology provides career development for education professionals in research and assessment, learning and development, and testing and program evaluation. Individuals in the program learn to use relevant theories and research to enhance the chances for academic and behavior success for various students. A total of 31 credits are needed for completion. The courses include Advanced Human Learning and Motivational Development, Advanced Study of Theories in Learning and Development, Collaborative Learning, Advanced Research Review in Educational Psychology, Culture, Communities, and Education, and Psychological Underpinnings of Learning.
The Doctor of Education in Educational Psychology equips students with the most relevant and appropriate educational and behavioral theories and research to improve the academic and behavioral outcomes of a wide range of individuals. Students learn about the psychological underpinnings of learning, establishing conducive learning environments, and cognitive strategies for learning in children and adults. The program requires at least 66 credit hours. Examples of courses include Theories, Issues, and Practice in Educational Psychology, Educational Statistics, Advanced Study in Educational Psychology, Issues in Education, and Advanced Human Learning and Motivational. Students must complete a dissertation.
The Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Psychology provides students with the opportunity to engage in advanced study and research in educational psychology. Students gain an understanding of the major theories in developmental psychology and have the ability to provide intellectual leadership in education. At least 75 credit hours are needed for completion. The courses include Advanced Research Review in Educational Psychology, Collaborative Learning, Advanced Study of Theories in Learning and Development, Advanced Study in Educational Psychology, Theories, Issues, and Practices in Educational Psychology, and Dissertation Research.
