Northeastern University offers a large number of degrees for those interested in learning more about applied behavior analysis or a related field. Students can pursue undergraduate or graduate degrees in one of these areas through the online campus or in the traditional classroom setting.

The applied behavior analysis program has been in place at Northeastern University since 1976. Students interested in this area may earn a master of science or a post-graduate certificate. The Master of Science in Applied Behavior Analysis requires two years of study. Students take classes that include Behavioral Concepts & Principles, Service Administration, Research Design and Methods, Applied Programming and Systematic Inquiry, among others.

The certificate program is offered to students who seek to become board certified. Students take 21 credits over the course of three semesters, which enable them to be prepared for the Board Certified Behavior Analyst exam. This program is offered through the Northeastern University online campus.

Students who do not yet have an undergraduate degree can take part in Northeastern University’s Plus One Program. This program lets students earn the M.S. in Applied Behavior Analysis in three semesters instead of four by taking some advanced courses while completing a psychology degree.

Northeastern University Application Requirements

Any student wishing to join the master’s program in applied behavior analysis must already possess an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution. Students must hold an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0. Along with completing the online application, all students must provide official transcripts from any previously attended institution, a statement of purpose and three letters of recommendation. It is helpful, though not required, for applicants to have work-related experience.

Certificate programs in applied behavior analysis are only offered to those students who have completed a master’s degree or higher. As with the master’s degree, certificate program applicants must show a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Undergraduate applicants to Northeastern University should spend a significant amount of preparation applying for the school as admission is extremely competitive. These students must display excellence in academics as well as financial need. The Torch Scholarship covers all expenses for attendance at Northeastern.
