Liberty University offers a Minor in Autism, Graduate Certificate in Autism Education, Master of Education in School Counseling, and Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction: Special Education.

The Minor in Autism is offered online. The program enables students to acquire the needed skills to successfully manage a classroom and encourage developmental growth of all students no matter their ability. The autism classes provide students with a better understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder and teach them about methods that help address autistic needs in a positive manner. The minor requires the completion of 18 credit hours. The courses include Introduction to Autism Spectrum Disorders, Autism: Educational and Theoretical Approaches, Learning and Behavior Problems, Exceptional Child, and Education Practicum or Teaching Practicum.

The Graduate Certificate in Autism Education is offered completely online. It examines current and developing trends in special education in various settings. The program teaches students about various educational, social, and behavioral strategies used for students with autism to enhance the learning environment. Students gain proactive strategies for encouraging positive behavior and assisting students with autism with the development of language and skills. The certificate requires the completion of nine credit hours. The courses include Characteristics of Autism Spectrum Disorder and Assessment, Communication, Language, and Sensory Aspects for Autism, and Behavior Management.

The Master of Education in School Counseling is an online program with required intensives. It prepares students to become school counselors in Christian, public, and private school settings. Students gain counseling and psychology knowledge and skills and focus on ethics and methods, family counseling, and career guidance. Students must complete at least 48 credit hours to earn the degree. The courses include Child and Adolescent Counseling in Schools, Counseling Theories and Techniques, Career Development and Counseling, and School Counseling Program Development and Evaluation.

The Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction-Special Education is a non-licensure online program that teaches students how to make a significant impact on the lives of exceptional students. Students learn about various teaching concepts, approaches to disabilities, and relational strategies. The degree places special emphasis on learning about autism across the lifespan. The degree requires the completion of 36 credit hours. The courses include Educational Assessment for Special Needs, Characteristics of Autism Spectrum Disorder and Assessment, Technology and Diversity, Trends and Issues in Educational Technology, and Communication, Language and Sensory Aspects for Autism.
